I spent my Saturday morning doing a pretty hard workout with Aneeka instead of racing in a "trial and error" fashion. The workout was 3x400m / 3x300m / 2x200m. We were a small group, just three of us doing it and it was the first workout with repeat 400s in a pretty long time and
man alive(!) were my legs lactic (Runner jargon!) after the first two 400s! During my warm up, one of the coaches, Andy, said one of the kindest things anyone has ever said to me...
"Be grateful because you have a gift..."
It quickly reminded me why I was at the track at 10am on a Saturday morning when my coach was away at a meet and I could have decided to sleep in, and give myself the day off.
But I didn't.
I was there to put in work. And I did.
I just wanna spend a bit bragging about my roommates from the #HouseOfDreams! Hayley Warren and Alicia Brown left me home alone to go compete at the McGill Team Challenge. Hayley is a 60m sprint hurdler and has been seriously cracking down her times this season and had a wicked fast time in the 60mH heats of 8.48! This time not only broke the meet and Fieldhouse record, but also set a new University of Toronto record (which was from the 80s!! Hayley told me that she heard this record is ...errr i mean was the second oldest U of T record. But she isn't sure...) Alicia opened her season later that day with a relaxed 300m in a time of 38.87. So fast and so exciting! These two fabulous roommates of mine are now both ranked #1 in the CIS rankings! I had to brag. Can't wait to see what other times they lay down on the track this season.
Did you notice that both of them have two 8s in their times? 8 must be the new lucky number for the #HouseOfDreams...just sayin'
I hope part of it speaks to you.

That's all for now!
