I spent my Saturday morning doing a pretty hard workout with Aneeka instead of racing in a "trial and error" fashion. The workout was 3x400m / 3x300m / 2x200m. We were a small group, just three of us doing it and it was the first workout with repeat 400s in a pretty long time and
man alive(!) were my legs lactic (Runner jargon!) after the first two 400s! During my warm up, one of the coaches, Andy, said one of the kindest things anyone has ever said to me...
"Be grateful because you have a gift..."
It quickly reminded me why I was at the track at 10am on a Saturday morning when my coach was away at a meet and I could have decided to sleep in, and give myself the day off.
But I didn't.
I was there to put in work. And I did.
