Everything has been completely different since my last blog post. After dealing with excruciating pain in my knee during the CIS championship and unfortunately, being unable to compete in the final event of the meet (the 4x400m relay), I came back to Toronto and made an appointment with my sports doctor. The first imaging I had done was an ultrasound on my knee; I wasn’t expecting the ultrasound to pick up on anything but it showed I had a potential tear in my meniscus. After that, I went for an MRI that showed I had multiple tears in my meniscus. These multiple tears are why I haven’t done a running workout in over 2 months, and also didn't race in California in April (for the first time in 8 years, if I remember correctly).
I’m starting to get antsy. I’ve done a ridiculous amount of bike workouts, which sometimes bothers my knee, and added in doing recovery on an elliptical just cuz I was so sick of bike workouts. I've also been doing some circuits (here's a pic of me at the end of a circuit with my teammate Maddie). And I’ve been doing a ton of work with my sports therapist to strengthen the area around the knee. Luckily, I’m getting my knee scoped (this coming Friday) and will then be on the road to recovery.
I’m not sure what my rehab will be like after the surgery, to get back to the strength I had, but I expect it'll be pretty challenging.
I’m reaaaally looking forward to getting off the bike and back onto my feet and finally being able to go on a run!
